Environmental Law, Policy and Practice - Update 2025

Overview:
Now in its 18th year, this event is a must for professionals concerned about environmental legal compliance and covers all the key changes over the last 12 months. The one-day programme addresses the key elements of recent and emerging legislation so that you can stay ahead in protecting your organisation.
The programme provides invaluable updates in environmental law and policy for organisations, critical to helping ensure legal compliance. An essential day for those who are either directly involved in delivering an organisation’s environmental responsibilities, or those who simply have an interest in keeping up to date with environmental law and policy.
The main topics and anticipated programme timings are detailed below. Note, some amendments may be made in advance of the seminar, to ensure that the agenda is as current and forward-looking as possible.
We will discuss…
Simpler Recycling and the Packaging Extended Producer Responsibility Requirements
How are we getting on, what’s the latest, where are we heading with this and when?
Circular Economy
We will look at circularity across the UK and the EU and see how the schemes compare.
Sustainability Reporting
We will consider the UK position on Corporate Social Reporting (CSR) and take a look at the changes to the EU requirements being brought about by the Omnibus Package.
Energy
What’s happening in the industry and what is the impact of CBAM.
REACH, POPs and PFAS
We will take a look at the latest requirements for hazardous chemicals and substances.
Planning, Infrastructure and Development
The Bill, Nature Restoration Funds and Environment Delivery Plans – how are they all hanging together and how do they apply?
Biodiversity Net Gain
Does the streamlining of ‘complex planning rules’ mean that BNG is dead in the water?
We will also take a look at the outcome of the ‘rapid review’ of the Environmental Improvement Plan.
We will consider what’s happening with the move towards Net Zero and what’s new in Sustainability.
And finally:
We will look at the latest on Permitting across the devolved nations, and the Appeals process.
Who Should Attend?
All those with responsibility for ensuring environmental legal compliance within their business and those who are seeking to improve their understanding of current or emerging environmental law and best practice.
