Managing Safety in Confined Spaces
Overview
Contrary to common belief, confined spaces are not solely to be found in the construction and water industries, but are found throughout industry. Typical examples of confined spaces are to be found in manufacture [especially metal fabrication of vessels], in air-conditioning [distribution trunking], in farm activities [silos, slurry pits], vehicle maintenance [inspection pits & lorry tanks], in lift maintenance [the “well” at the base of the shaft], in horizontal & vertical service ducts in a wide range of buildings [inc hospitals], and even the asbestos removal industry. It would be advantageous [but not essential] for attendees to already have some understanding of the principles of risk assessment.
